Here’s  a re-post from our Kickstarter blog – pictures so nice, they’re on the web twice!

While Hideous Progeny’s costume designer, Jackie Dalley, is hard at work, I thought I’d take a look at the style of the time and what she has to recreate. While our cast won’t be in their evening finery, overcomplicated hats, or doing hilarious dance moves, these pictures should give an idea of just how large an undertaking building these costumes is.

And in case these don’t do justice to just how sexy this fashion could be, here’s a little treat for you: http://youtu.be/zrE8wXj3Mnw.

Have you seen our Hideous Progeny buttons yet? They are pretty darn spiffy, if you ask me (and not just because I [Lydia] tried my hand at design with them).

If you’d like the full set, head to our Kickstarter page and donate $10. Just like that, and they’re all yours! (that’s what Lord Byron said)

I think we can all agree you need these.

It’s with a bittersweet feeling that I announce our final presentation in our Inch Worm Play Reading Series. It’s been wonderful getting to meet all these playwrights and seeing how different directors and actors bring their words to life. Not to mention our wonderful talk-back sessions with the audience. It’s definitely something I’ll miss this summer.

But I’m very excited about this last play as well! The Christina Experiment by Deirdre Girard is a fascinating story about family, loyalty, and what we owe our children. Adrienne Boris is our director, and the cast includes Jake Berger, Lauren Foster, Chris Leon, Janelle Mills, and Phil Thompson. We hope you’ll join us as we close out the series with this great play, Sunday June 5 at 4:00 in the Somerville Theatre Microcinema. Click on the links below for more information.

We’re also getting psyched to start rehearsals (themselves a kind of experiment) for Hideous Progeny! We’ll continue to update you as we go along, so keep checking back. And don’t forget, you can become a design backer at our Kickstarter page!

Monday night we had a great crowd at The Hat Trick, our latest reading in the Inch Worm series. The actors were great and our leads even managed to not slur after imbibing multiple beers on stage – well done! Thank you to everyone involved and to our great audience. Be sure to catch our final reading, The Christina Experiment, June 5 at 4:00 pm at the Somerville Theatre Microcinema.

In our next bit of thanks, thank you to everyone who has donated to our Hideous Progeny design campaign so far! We reached our goal in no time, thanks to your generosity.

That being said, there’s still more money we can raise! Any additional funds will go toward design elements and the production in general. For more information, visit our Kickstarter page here. There’s still one more dinner with Lord Byron available…

Make sure your calendar is marked this Monday for our next Inch Worm Play Reading:

I got the inside scoop on rehearsals, and it’s gearing up to be a very active decidedly non-staid reading. We hope to see you there!

Our graphic designer, Christine Atturio, just sent over the Hideous Progeny poster design, and y’all – it’s fantastic. I have a feeling you’ll be stopping in your tracks once they start appearing in windows. Get ready.

And speaking of design, we are also stoked about our design team for the show: Sean A. Cote (sets), Jackie Dalley (costumes), Ian King (lighting), and Amanda Sheehan (properties). They’ve got a big task, but did you know you can help? Head over to our Kickstarter page for more details – you could even get one of those posters I raved about, signed by everyone. Win-win!
